New Orleans, Louisiana, is one of the most popular destinations in the United States. With some of the best cuisine, nightlife, and cultural experiences in the world, it is no wonder why this city attracts more than 19 million visitors annually. Planning a trip to New Orleans can be exciting yet overwhelming; there is so much to do, so where do you start? I like to start by choosing a comfortable hotel that is centrally located; The Ace Hotel in New Orleans is one of these.
Keep reading to decide whether The Ace Hotel in New Orleans is right for you. Hopefully, this article will make your planning process a little easier! As a side note, if you like what you read about The Ace Hotel, I have some good news for you: The Ace Hotel has locations in several cities worldwide!
Price of The Ace Hotel
My stay at The Ace Hotel was booked through a surprise travel agency (more on this here). For this reason, I did not know how much I actually paid for the hotel. I could not recommend a hotel without knowing the price, so I did some research for you.
Per TripAdvisor, the price for a standard room generally ranges from $204 – $329 per night. Overall, this can be classified as an upscale hotel; not quite luxury, but you’ll get a lot of high-quality amenities at a more reasonable price point.
Is The Ace Hotel in New Orleans worth this price? Well, that depends on your travel priorities and trip budget. While hotels located in the heart of the city are generally more expensive, you will save a lot of money on transportation. My stay was quite pleasant (more on this below), and the location was excellent. For help figuring out if this hotel fits into your budget, click here.
How to Get to The Ace Hotel
The Ace Hotel is conveniently located in the Warehouse District of New Orleans, Louisiana. It is within walking distance from almost all of New Orleans’ most popular tourist attractions.
To get to The Ace Hotel, if you are not already in Louisiana or the surrounding area, you’ll likely be flying into the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). The Gulfport/Biloxi International Airport in Gulfport, Mississippi (GPT) and Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (BTR) are also nearby.
Below, I included information on how to get to The Ace Hotel from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
Address: 600 Carondelet St, New Orleans, LA 70130

Inside The Ace Hotel
Lobby
Check-In Area
Overall, I was quite pleased with the hotel lobby. Although the check-in area was rather small, the staff kept things moving to prevent it from getting cramped. The check-in process was seamless, and everyone was very welcoming.
If you really enjoy your stay at The Ace Hotel, you may consider purchasing merch. Behind the check-in desk, there were several souvenirs available for purchase.
Seating Areas
Nothing is worse than arriving at your hotel after a long flight only to find out that you have an hour until check-in and nowhere to sit and rest (been there, done that). Luckily, that will most likely never be an issue at The Ace Hotel. There are a ton of couches and chairs, as well as a cucumber-orange water pitcher, for your comfort. If you are musically inclined, take a seat at the piano and tickle the ivory while you wait!
Elevators
Normally, I would not touch upon the elevator area; however, I thought this one deserved a mention. There are three elevators available for use (no, the cool vintage photo booth is not one of them). A room key is required to use the elevator, which I really liked. It made me feel very safe knowing random people could not access my hallway.
Barnett Room
The lobby certainly has ample seating, but just in case you are looking for something a bit quieter, check out the Barnett Room. This intimate area is located right next to the hotel coffee shop, Lovage, making it the perfect place to sip on your morning latte.
Gallery
Equipped with a long table, power outlets, and reading lamps, the gallery is a great place to get some work done. I sat in the gallery to journal for a while, and it provided a nice quiet environment to get my thoughts out.
The gallery is called a “gallery” for a reason. A collection of work from a local artist hung on the walls, which really brought the room to life. I had never been to a hotel with an art gallery before; it is just one of the many things that made it an exciting place to stay!
Guest Rooms at The Ace Hotel
There are a variety of guest rooms available for booking at The Ace Hotel in New Orleans. Of course, I have not stayed in them all; I was booked into the Double room – with a King bed rather than the standard two double beds. To check out all of the types of rooms available, click here.
The Main Room
This may be the most minimalist room I have ever seen, yet, that is what made it interesting. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the refrigerator was big. Overall, it had everything we needed.
The Bathroom
The bathroom had my friend and me puzzled for a few hours. Like most hotel rooms, the toilet/shower and sink area were in separate “rooms.” The sink area was separated from the main room by a curtain, which is unusual, but it gave the room some character. Our confusion arose when we could not find a door separating the toilet/shower area from the sink area. After almost complaining to the front desk, we found the solution to our problem; it was a sliding door tucked all the way into the wall! Now we look back and laugh as, for a moment, this was one of the strangest hotel bathroom experiences I ever had!
Funny stories aside, the bathroom was perfectly fine. The sink and toilet were nothing out of the ordinary, but the shower was huge. Overall, a pleasant bathroom experience.
Food and Drinks at The Ace Hotel
Lobby Bar
The Lobby Bar is exactly what it sounds like: a bar in the hotel lobby. The picture above was taken during one of the only times the bar was empty. I guess it is a pretty popular spot! After all, who wouldn’t want a drink while waiting for their room?
Josephine Estelle’s
The Ace Hotel’s restaurant, Josephine Estelle’s, is situated to the left of reception. As many of New Orlean’s popular breakfast joints book up pretty quickly, this was a convenient option for my friend and I to grab a bite before starting our day; in fact, the restaurant was practically empty, and we were seated immediately. In addition to breakfast, Joesphine Estelle’s is open for lunch, dinner, and brunch.
I will preface my “food review” by stating that I am not the person to go to for such recommendations, as I am a very picky eater. While it was not the best food we ever had, both my friend and I enjoyed our meals. It is near impossible to get bad food in New Orleans! I cannot speak to the quality of their lunch, dinner, and brunch offerings, as I was out and about trying as much of Louisiana’s unsurmountable cuisine as I could during these times. Overall, based on my limited experience, I would recommend this restaurant.
Lovage
Lovage, the hotel coffee shop, is sandwiched between the lobby and Barnett Room. When on vacation, I usually start my day roaming the city searching for a coffee shop; this can be a big waste of time. One of the best parts of my trip to New Orleans was knowing I could simply grab my latte on my way out. Also, if you are looking for a quick snack, Lovage is the perfect spot. From baked goods to granola bars, this cafe has you covered. I can personally recommend the breakfast burrito!
ALTO
The ALTO bar is The Ace Hotel’s rooftop poolside bar (yes, there is a rooftop pool. Keep reading for more on this!). Along with some creative drink options, they also serve some great snacks; my friend ordered a personal pizza. I was so grateful for the ALTO bar during my pool day; there is no feeling like sipping a piña colada under the sun!
Activities and Amenities at The Ace Hotel
Three Keys
Enjoy a night on the town without even leaving your hotel by visiting the Three Keys lounge. While I cannot personally recommend this lounge nor the shows they produce, as I unfortunately did not have time to visit, it looks like an unforgettable experience. To check out the event schedule, click here.
Pool
The only thing better than finding out that your hotel has a pool is finding out that it’s a rooftop pool. If I didn’t have a full itinerary planned, I would’ve spent all of my time up there. With a nice pool, epic views of the city, plenty of comfortable seating, and a trendy bar (ALTO – see “Food and Drinks” section), what more could you ask for?
Prior to my trip, I had always wanted to go to New Orleans. However, interestingly enough, I played no part in planning my vacation to The Big Easy. My friend and I signed up for a surprise vacation through Pack Up + Go, and this is where we were sent! To find out more about this unique experience, click here.
